A beautifully sculptural antique scent bottle in rich amber (“topaz”) glass, dating to the late Victorian/early Edwardian period. Deep facet cutting catches the light brilliantly, with an elegant baluster form rising from a scalloped, flower-like base. Complete with its original matching stopper, this is a superb decorative piece for a dressing table, cabinet display or maximalist interior.

Looks especially good displayed with vanity items, silver-backed brushes, or alongside other coloured glass for a curated cabinet look.

Historical Context

From the late 19th century into the Edwardian period (c. 1890–1910), dressing tables were often arranged with toilette sets, scent bottles, powder jars and trays in coloured glass or crystal. Amber/topaz glass was fashionable because it read as “luxurious” under gaslight and early electric light, and it paired well with the period’s gilt, mahogany and marble-topped interiors.
