A charming late Victorian/Edwardian swing-frame dressing mirror in mahogany, circa 1900. The arched plate is held between turned supports above a neat plinth with a single shallow drawer perfect for jewellery or cufflinks. Compact and elegant, it’s ideal for a dressing table, bathroom shelf, or hallway console.

Period: c.1890–1910
Materials: Mahogany (solid and veneer), original glass plate
Dimensions: Width 38 cm; Depth approx. 18 cm; Height approx. 45–50 cm

Condition: Honest age and use. Light surface wear to the timber; minor knocks to corners; mirror shows age-related foxing at the lower edge. Presentable and ready to use.

Historical Context

These compact mirrors sat on washstands or dressing tables for shaving and toilette. By the Edwardian period forms became simpler than high-Victorian pieces, with clean mahogany surfaces and restrained turning. Made in large numbers by British provincial cabinet shops and factory makers.
