BR continued the pre‑war practice of decorating compartments with landscape views to promote leisure travel. Charles Knight produced many town and landscape views for the railway. When Mk1 coaches were refurbished or scrapped in the 1960s–70s, these framed prints were released and entered the collectors’ market.
